Recurly

Connect Recurly with a private API key, in the US or EU region.

RevGlance reads Recurly's API version 2021-02-25: paid charge invoices, refund transactions and subscriptions.

Connect

  1. In Recurly, open Integrations › API Credentials and add a private API key. Call it RevGlance.
  2. Copy the key, and note your site subdomain: acme for acme.recurly.com.
  3. Fill in the key, the region your site is hosted in (us or eu) and the subdomain, then choose Connect Recurly.

Enter us or eu as the region. Sites hosted in the EU use Recurly's EU API.

Add the webhook

  1. In RevGlance, open Settings › Sources, open the Recurly source's menu and choose Webhook. Copy the URL.
  2. In Recurly, open Integrations › Webhooks and add an endpoint with that URL in JSON format.
  3. Copy the endpoint's signing secret, paste it under Signing secret in RevGlance and save.

RevGlance checks the recurly-signature header and refuses calls more than five minutes old.

What RevGlance syncs

  • Paid charge invoices, before tax.
  • Successful refund transactions, with tax taken off in the same share as on the invoice.
  • Subscriptions, for MRR, plans, trials and cancels. Recurly gives no cancel reason through its API and reports no gateway fees.

How Recurly is counted

  • Paid charge invoices count before tax.
  • Refunds are the successful refund transactions. They include tax, so RevGlance takes the tax off in the same share as on the invoice.
  • Recurly reports no gateway fees, so fees show as zero.
  • MRR is Recurly's subtotal for the subscription (unit amount, quantity and add-ons, after coupons, before tax).
  • A canceled subscription keeps counting until it expires; expired, failed and paused ones count as churn. Recurly gives no cancel reason through the API.
  • A payment that could not be collected counts as a failed charge. It moves no money.
  • Chargebacks are not read, so a lost one stays counted as a charge unless the provider also reports it as a refund.

Recovery emails

Recover links the customer to their hosted account page on your Recurly site, which is why the form asks for the subdomain.
