Gumroad

Connect Gumroad with an application access token and a ping URL that carries a secret.

Connect

  1. In Gumroad, open Settings › Advanced and create an application. Any name and redirect URL will do; RevGlance never uses the redirect.
  2. Choose Generate access token on the new application and copy the token.
  3. Paste it under Access token and choose Connect Gumroad. RevGlance reads your products, sales and membership subscribers.

Add the webhook

Gumroad does not sign its pings, so the URL itself carries a secret only you and RevGlance know.

  1. In RevGlance, open Settings › Sources, open the Gumroad source's menu and choose Webhook.
  2. Make up a long random secret (a password manager is good at this), paste it under Signing secret and save.
  3. Copy the webhook URL and add ?token= and your secret to the end, like …/webhooks/sources/12?token=your-secret.
  4. In Gumroad, open Settings › Advanced and paste the whole address as the Ping endpoint.

What RevGlance syncs

  • Products, to read membership prices and recurrences (monthly, quarterly, every six months, yearly, every two years).
  • Sales, with Gumroad's fee, refunds and chargebacks. Later syncs read sales from 30 days before the last sync, and every sale once a week, because Gumroad gives refunds no date.
  • Membership subscribers, for MRR, tiers, trials and cancellations.

Gumroad customers are known by their email address. In privacy mode RevGlance keeps a one-way hash of it instead.

How Gumroad is counted

  • Gumroad reports every amount in US dollars, whatever your product's currency, so sales are recorded in USD.
  • Refunds have no date: a refund is dated the day RevGlance finds it, or the day of the sale on the first sync. Sales are re-read 30 days back, and in full once a week, to catch them.
  • A chargeback you won is not a refund; a lost one is, until you win it.
  • MRR is what the latest sale charged, so an offer code lowers it until a full-price sale shows as an expansion.
  • Tax Gumroad collects is left out. Tax you collect yourself stays in, since the sales list does not report it.
  • Failed charges are not reported, so that figure stays at zero.

Recovery emails

Gumroad has no direct link to the card form. Recover sends the customer to the membership's Manage page, where Gumroad first emails them a sign-in link.
